Craig Henry
A full time firefighter for the city of Winnipeg for the 10 months of the year it is not waterfowl season. Craig takes the entire fall off every year to pursue his passion of waterfowling. Craig and his wife Valerie have 4 children which they are raising on an 80 acre farm only one mile off the refuge line at Oak Hammock Marsh (Ducks Unlimiteds largest North American wetland project). From early spring until late fall tens of thousands of ducks and geese fly over their home daily, most days so low that they wake them before their alarm clocks. A population of up to 800,000 ducks and geese during the peak of the migration make a stop within sight of the farm. Craig has been hooked on waterfowl hunting ever since his father Art took him out in 1985 for his first field hunt and will never forget that cold morning in a harvested oat field with a massive vortex of snow and blue geese bearing down on them. Guiding and outfitting in his fathers various businesses since 1991, Craig started up his own outfitting business in 1997 and partnered with one of his fellow firefighters, Kevin Hay, in 2002. Craig looks after a lot of the booking details and lining up of fields as well as a good portion of the scouting not to mention trying to get out in the decoys as often as he can and do what he really enjoys, calling in ducks and geese.

Kevin Hay
Kevin is also a full time firefighter for the city of Winnipeg and takes every fall off for hunting alongside his dogs Cedar and Raven. Kevin and his wife Maggie have two children and the two Labrador retrievers which they raise on their small farm west of Winnipeg. With big honkers landing in his backyard and deer feeding through most evenings, Kevin has quite the little piece of paradise. Kevin is the dog trainer/handler, and field boss of the partnership and will be out in the field for approximately 65-70 hunts per year as well as looking after all the books and deposits. Kevin comes from a strong hunting background and has been hunting all his life with his father and brother and in the last 8 years also waterfowling alongside Craig every chance they get. A stickler for details, Kevin is often moving some decoys around and stubbling blinds right up until shooting time to have the spread looking “just right”. His ringing hail calls have been the demise of thousands of mallards and not just a few honkers have been fooled by his work on a short reed call. Cedar is a 6 year old brown lab female that is rather docile but loves tackling the big honkers while Raven is a 2 year old black lab female that is usually out in the duck field as she is full of energy and revels in retrieving 40 plus birds in an afternoon. With Raven showing us how she marks birds up to a half mile or more in the last few seasons, not very many birds ever get away. |

Art Henry
Craig’s father and A full time outfitter since 1991, Art grew up right on the line of a refuge bordering three of the best waterfowling lakes in Manitoba. As soon as he was strong enough to lift a shotgun, his mother would send him out into the yard to pass shoot a couple of ducks for supper every afternoon in the fall. With a father that farmed and hunted to feed his family, Art developed a strong hunting ethic and passion at an early age which carries on to this day. Art and his wife Ellen live approximately 45 minutes Northwest of Winnipeg where they raised their 3 children who are now grown with their own families. Art was an electrical contractor up until he was able to pursue his dream of becoming a full time outfitter in the early 90’s. Having built up and sold whitetail deer, fly in moose and fishing, and other bear operations, he has downsized from being one of the largest outfitters in Manitoba and focused on a smaller bear camp and now waterfowl in recent years. Spring and early fall finds him in his bear camp in Northern Manitoba, later fall he is a full-time scouter for Cupped Wings and throughout the winter Art and Ellen are traveling to tradeshows throughout North America both booking their own hunts and acting as booking agents for 30 plus other outfitters. When Art sold his fly in Moose business in 2005, a decision was made to become involved as a partner in the fast growing business of Cupped Wings Outfitting. His 17 years of experience in making hunts of a lifetime and 55 years of personal hunting experience is a great asset to Cupped Wings. |
